FOOTBALL: Sophomores defeat St. Michael-Albertville

The Brainerd Warrior sophomore football team ran its season record to 5-1 with an 8-0 win at St Michael-Albertville Thursday.

Both teams had a difficult time generating any offense with gusting winds hindering any passing attacks. Brainerd had 126 yards of total offense while St. Michael-Albertville was held to 104.

Cole DeRosier scored the only touchdown in the game in the first quarter on an 8-yard run and added the 2-point conversion. The Warrior defense stopped the Knights three times on fourth and short yardage to turn the ball back over to the offense.

“The entire defensive unit played well,” Warriors coach Mike Langer said. “Zach Winger did a good job of punting the ball in the windy conditions to give us good field position.”
