Baird won with a time of 18:11, beating runner-up and previous course record holder Brent Gunsbury by just more than a minute.

Elizabeth Stokes, a junior high cross country runner, paced the female race in 21:37, shaving nine seconds off the previous record.

Athletes, parents and friends of the Brainerd Nordic ski team directed the event with support from School District 181, the city of Brainerd, and the community action homecoming committee. Proceeds will benefit the Nordic ski program.
