Area Girls Tennis: Patriots eliminate W-DC to advance

PEQUOT LAKES — Ellie Erholtz-Lauren Bengtson didn’t drop a game in their No. 2 doubles victory helping the second-seeded Pequot Lakes Patriots to a 7-0 victory over No. 7 Wadena-Deer Creek in the Section 8-1A team quarterfinals Tuesday.

None of the Patriots dropped a set as they advance to the semifinal round where they will face the Crookston Pirates, who defeated Roseau 6-1.

STAPLES — Emily Israeson and the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles team were perfect in leading the top-seeded Staples-Motley Cardinals to a 7-0 victory over No. 8 Perham in Tuesday’s Section 8-1A team quarterfinal.

Israelson won her No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-0 as did the doubles teams of Maggie O’Keefe-Kelsey Zetah and Brooke Wolhowe-Ann Kautto.

CROSBY — Mariah Oren and the No. 3 doubles team were victorious, but the No. 2 seeded Crosby-Ironton Rangers were upset by third-seeded Pine City 5-2 during Tuesday’s South Subsection 7-1A team semifinals.

Oren captured a 6-3, 6-4 No. 2 singles victory, while the doubles team of Rachel Norwood-Mandy Lambert won 6-4, 6-2.
