Patriots sweep Goblers in season final

AITKIN — The Pequot Lakes Patriots closed out the regular season with a 3-0 win over the Aitkin Gobblers on Tuesday night in a non-conference match.

Abby Palmer pounded out 12 kills, and Kayla Miller scooped up 13 digs for the Patriots. Palmer and Miller also tallied three ace serves each.

The Gobblers were led by Bailey Nordeen with 13 digs, and Jenae Herron who totaled five kills.

VERNDALE — The Verndale Pirates, led by 17 kills from Teresa Moenkedick, cruised past Staples-Motley in three games to win their non-conference match with the Cardinals on Tuesday night.

Sarah Moenkedick notched 23 set assists. Jordan Glenz and Sarah Moenkedick each finished with 16 digs for the Pirates.

Kaitlin Spar recorded five kills, and Ashley Jenniges tipped 12 set assists for the Cardinals.

PINE RIVER — Brittany Kelley contributed 11 kills and five blocks as the Pine-River-Backus Tigers closed out their regular season with a 3-1 Northland Conference win over the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves Tuesday.

Megan Felthous added 10 kills and Journee Howard tipped 20 set assists for the Tigers, who finish 6-1 in the conference.
