CLASS 1A GIRLS TENNIS: Cardinals bow out at state following two defeats

MINNEAPOLIS — Maggie O’Keefe-Kelsey Zetah picked up a win at No. 1 doubles and Mikayla Wing cruised to victory at No. 1 singles for Staples-Motley as the Cardinals were edged by Osakis 4-3 in the Class 1A consolation semifinals Tuesday at the Reed Sweatt Family Tennis Center.

Annie Kautto-Brooke Wolhowe added a win at No. 2 doubles for Staples-Motley.

The loss came after a 7-0 shutout at the hands of defending 1A state champion Blake in the quarterfinals.
