BOWLING: JV Blue Warriors fourth at state

The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity Blue finished fourth in the 24-team state tournament last weekend at Louisville Lanes in Shakopee.

Brainerd defeated North St. Paul, Champlin Park, Winona, Andover and Faribault Gold in pool play to advance to final eight match play.

The Warriors suffered losses in pool play to Big Lake and Spring Lake Park.

Brainerd had the sixth-highest pinfall in 14 games of pool play with 2,503 pins, and a 178 average.

In match play, Brainerd defeated Burnsville 2-1, was tied with Mankato West 1-1 after two games before Mankato won the third game by three pins.

Bowling for third place, No. 1 seed Faribault Green defeated Brainerd 2-1. Farmington defeated Mankato West to win the state title.

Breanna Fields, Hayden Brooks and Gabe Clow led Brainerd with 78-, 72- and 71-percent fills, respectively.

Brainerd state tournament participants included Adam Stange, Amanda O’Hotto (captain), Breanna Fields, Hayden Brooks (captain), Levi Raddatz, Tyler Fields, and Gabe Clow.

Kelsy Warta of Brainerd JV Silver earned all-honors for exemplifying sportsmanship, leadership and dedication during the season.
