AREA WRESTLING: Road Crew pins Blackduck to go 10-1

BLACKDUCK — The Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus Road Crew recorded seven pins, the quickest from Andrew Grundmeier at the 50-second mark, as the Road Crew defeated Blackduck 52-22 in a non-conference meet Tuesday.

PL/PRB dominated the Drakes with eight wins in the first eight matches.

Spencer Richards, Nate Adkins, Triston Rubner, Jace Loge, Nick Gravdahl, and Kurt Kent all won by fall as the Road Crew raised their overall record to 10-1.

Pierz wins pair

PIERZ — Evan Woitalla registered a pair of pins and eight other Pierz grapplers went 2-0 as the Pioneers improved their season record to 12-2 by crushing Rockford 72-7 and Eden Valley-Watkins 51-19 in Tuesday’s Central Minnesota Conference triangular.

Also going 2-0 were Andrew Tomala, Cole Brausen, Chris Ortman, Josh Lanners, Nick Lochner, Travis Johnson, Ryley Smude and Curtis Brisk.

Tomala won his first two varsity matches and Johnson improved to 14-5. Lanners is 5-0.

The Pioneers have won 12 straight dual meets and are 3-0 in the conference.
