BOYS BASKETBALL: Sauer helps Warriors improve to 7-0

WILLMAR — Jack Sauer scored 22 points for the unbeaten Brainerd Warriors in a 70-64 win over the Willmar Cardinals in a Central Lakes Conference game Tuesday night.

The Warriors lead the Central Lakes Conference with a 4-0 record and improved to 7-0 overall.

“It was a hard-fought game, a physical game, as it always is with Willmar,” said Warriors head coach Scott Stanfield. “We battled it out to get tied at the half.

“We got down by 12 with seven minutes left in the game, but after a timeout they took it upon themselves to finish it out and climb back and with three minutes left, we took the lead and never gave it back and ended the game with an 18-2 run.”

Marcus Comstock added 17 points and 10 rebounds and Jacob Blong scored 12 points for Brainerd.
