Area Boys Basketball: Rangers swamp Detroit Lakes 80-59

DETROIT LAKES — Caleb Baker led all scorers with 20 points and Daniel Hudrlik added 19 as the Crosby-Ironton Rangers snapped a two-game losing streak with an 80-59 win over the Detroit Lakes Lakers in Thursday’s Mid-State Conference game.

Will Goodwin and Riley Jacobs each added 12 points and Garrett Van Horn nine for the Rangers, who hit on 30 of 49 shots from the field, including 27-35 from the field.

PIERZ — Cullin Carter’s 16 points helped the Pierz Pioneers to a third consecutive victory in a 54-45 overtime defeat of the Kimball Cubs in a Central Minnesota Conference game Thursday.

Pierz trailed by three points with .5 seconds in regulation when Josh Templin hit a 3-pointer from half court to send the game into the extra frame. Templin finished with six points.

Mitch Bednar notched 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Pioneers.
