Area Girls Basketball: Rangers cut down Lumberjacks

BEMIDJI — Chelsey Bonsante tossed in 22 points and the Crosby-Ironton Rangers saw their three-game losing streak snapped with Friday’s 50-44 non-conference win over Bemidji.

Meredith Silgen added 12 points and nine rebounds and Shannon Lundgren contributed 10 rebounds.

BAXTER — Grace Wikstrom’s 15 points led nine Lake Region Christian Hornets who found the scoring column in Friday’s 63-12 victory over Grace of Mankato.

Emily Beltran added 12 points and eight assists. Wikstrom secured nine rebounds and two steals. Marlee Moore finished with 11 rebounds, six points, four assists and two steals.

The Hornets held Mankato to 12 points despite not having senior center Bethany Cressman in the lineup.

NEVIS — The Pine River-Backus Tigers, led by Tatum Sheley’s 17 points, stayed perfect in Northwoods Conference play with a 54-39 win over Nevis Friday.

The Tigers won for the seventh straight game and moved to 8-0 in conference play.

Kendra Brasel and Autumn Ackerman scored 11 points each. Brasel also dished out seven assists and Megan Felthous collected 10 rebounds.

Jordyn Glenz added 11 points 14 rebounds and seven assists for the Pirates, who avenged a 68-65 loss to Menahga on Dec. 4.
