DANCE TEAM: Brainerd captures conference championship

ST. CLOUD — The Brainerd Warriors dance team recorded a first-place finish in its jazz routine, and a second-place finish in kick competition to win the Central Lakes Conference championship Friday night at St. Cloud Apollo High School.

The Warriors claimed the overall season championship based on most wins as they had two first- and two second-place finishes.

“Our jazz performance was the best of the year,” said Warriors coach Cindy Clough. “Our kick was good and we put in a new, more difficult routine, but didn’t execute it as well as we should have.

“We were very pleased with our placing as the officials were able to see we added more complicated moves into the routine.”
