Women's College Basketball: Raider women rally for win

ELY — The Central Lakes College Raiders scored 56 second-half points to rally and beat Vermilion Saturday 78-75 in a Northern Division game.

The Raiders trailed 39-22 at the half and found themselves down 31-10 early in the half before getting their legs under them.

“We had a really long road trip because our bus broke down,” said Raiders head coach Dennis Eastman. “We were on the bus for five hours instead of three hours. So we came out slow. I give credit to the girls they came out in that second half and decided they wanted to win.

“I think it was just a matter of getting warmed up. The game was scheduled for 1 p.m. and we didn’t get there until 2 p.m. and we had 20 minutes to get ready for the game. The girls just weren’t mentally or physically ready, but they came together in the second half.”

Lindsay Monson scored 20 points to lead the Raiders. Sierra Benning scored 15, Carlie Sweet 13 and Taalyer Egeness 12 points to help CLC improve to 4-1 in the division.
