BOWLING: Big scores, new leader in traveling league

McGregor took over first place in the Central 8 Traveling Classic Bowling League Sunday at Little Falls Bowling Center.

McGregor led the field, bowling a 3,442 team series for one set to propel it into first. That series was an average of 229 per McGregor bowler. McGregor recorded three 700 series, eight games over 250 and a 300 by Don Reich.

High team series honors went to McGregor with 3,442, Pine River 3,122 and Milaca 3,117.

High team games were by McGregor with 1,214, 1,164 and 1,102; Aitkin 1,126; and Brainerd 1,089.

High individual series included Bill Floerchinger of Pine River with 755, Larry Birkedahl of McGregor 750 and Don Reich of McGregor 714.

High individual games were the 300 by Reich, Jim Talbot of Aitkin with a 289 and Scott Besser of McGregor with a 279.

Next meeting will be at McGregor at 10 a.m. Feb. 17 (4 teams only) and 10 a.m. Feb. 24 (4 teams only).
