GIRLS HOCKEY: Flying Warriors lose lead, fall to Broncos

The Brainerd/Little Falls Flying Warriors surrendered a 3-1 lead, allowing five goals in the third period, and lost 7-4 to the International Falls Broncos in Saturday’s non-conference game at Brainerd Area Civic Center.

After the Broncos’ Amy Auran scored 16 seconds into the game, successive goals by Tory Brown, C.J. Kendall and Maddie Ellingson put the Flying Warriors in front 3-1.

The Broncos scored the next five goals, four on power plays, for a 6-3 International Falls lead.

Brooke Mimmack scored for B/LF on a power play with 15 seconds left in the game.

Amber Tilander closed out the scoring for the Broncos with six seconds remaining.

Sara Wennerstrand made 14 saves for the Flying Warriors, who were coming off their second win of the season, 2-0 over River Lakes Jan. 17.
