AREA BOYS HOCKEY: Pettit, Swanson fuel Wolverines' victory

WADENA — Bridger Pettit tallied eight points and Mitchell Swanson picked up his 100th career point in the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines’ 9-1 win over the Breckenridge/Wahpeton Blades in a non-conference game Tuesday.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Wolverines who are 7-8.

Overall: WDC 7-8-0. Next: Wadena-Deer Creek hosts Bagley-Fosston 7 p.m. Thursday.

Little Falls 6, Alexandria 0

ALEXANDRIA — Michael Stumpf was perfect in net, turning aside 21 shots, as the Little Falls Flyers defeated the Alexandria Cardinals for the second time this season, 6-0, in Tuesday’s Section 6-1A game.

Little Falls leads the section with a 13-3 mark and the Cardinals are in third place. Alex lost 3-1 to the Flyers on Dec. 11.

Austin Bjorge and Ben Newman netted two goals each while Taylor Drager and Mark Anez finished out the Flyers’ scoring. Bjorge and Spencer Fenske each had a pair of assists.

SAUK CENTRE — Aspen Florey found the back of the net twice while Kegan Couture tallied a goal and three assists to lead the Northern Lakes Lightning to a 7-2 win over the Prairie Center Area North Stars in a non-conference game Tuesday.

Also scoring goals for the Lightning were Kyle Narveson, Nick Blanchette, Ben Moe and Gaven Bickford.

Mitch Stangel made 27 saves in net for the Lightning, who outshot the North Stars 33-28.
