AREA BOYS HOCKEY: Another W-DC player joins 100-point club

WADENA — Wadena-Deer Creek senior forward Bridger Pettit’s assist on Mitchell Swanson’s goal in the first period Jan. 24 was the 100th point in Pettit’s varsity career in the Wolverines’ 9-7 win over Bagley-Fosston.

Pettit becomes the 15th member of the Wolverines’ 100-point club. It was second time in a week that a Wolverine had reached the milestone. On Jan. 22, Swanson recorded his 100th point.

WADENA — Christian Berg netted an overtime goal on an assist from Jake Krause to push Wadena-Deer Creek past Kittson Central 5-4 in Saturday’s non-conference game.

After being down 4-2 following two periods, the Wolverines rallied in the final stanza, scoring two unanswered goals before Berg put the game away in overtime.

Bridger Pettit secured two goals while Berg added two. Jack Krause tallied a goal and the game-winning assist.

Wesley Janson kicked away 26 shots for a Wolverines team that has won three straight.

FERGUS FALLS — Mark Anez tallied three points in the first period to help Little Falls shut out Fergus Falls 4-0 in Saturday’s Section 6-1A game.

Ben Newman added a goal and assist while Austin Bjorge scored a goal for the Flyers.

Michael Stumpf was perfect in net for the Flyers, deflecting 34 shots.
