ROGERS — Marcus Comstock erupted for 31 points and Jack Sauer for 22 as the unbeaten Brainerd Warriors trampled the Rogers Royals 96-63 in a Section 8-4A game Saturday.

Jacob Blong contributed 11 points and nine rebounds and Tony Sauer added 10 points as Brainerd improved to 14-0 overall.

The Warriors shot 53 percent from the field, 71 percent at the foul line and made 13 threes, with Jack Sauer netting five of those.

“We came out again with great intensity and played extremely hard,” Warriors coach Scott Stanfield said. “Marcus Comstock, Jacob Blong and Jagar Hanson were dominant in the post, and opened up our outside shooters, who shot extremely well. We had a number of pick and rolls, and slips to the rim for easy baskets.”

The Warriors limited Rogers to 38-percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers.

“Defensively, we had an excellent game and great energy,” Stanfield said. “I thought our kids handled playing back-to-back (games) really well, and had fantastic energy the whole game, which will be needed again when we play Moorhead (Friday) at Moorhead, and Elk River at home (Saturday).”

Comstock finished 10 of 13 from the field and 11 of 13 at the free throw line. Jack Sauer was 8 of 14 from the floor, including 5 of 9 from behind the arc. Comstock added nine rebounds as Brainerd outrebounded the Royals 38-30.
