BOYS SWIMMING AND DIVING: Warriors conference champs second straight season

ALEXANDRIA — Josh McKeag was All-Central Lakes Conference in four events and the Brainerd Warriors tied Sartell for the overall Central Lakes Conference championship following their performance in Saturday’s CLC meet.

Teams earn two points for each dual-meet victory and 16 for finishing first in the CLC meet. Brainerd (8-0) earned 16 regular-season points and 14 Saturday. Sartell (7-1) earned 14 points for dual-meet wins and 16 for winning Saturday’s meet.

It was the second straight CLC championship for the Warriors, who clocked 15 individual season-best times Saturday.

Seven Warriors received all-conference honors, led by McKeag, who was All-CLC on the 200 medley relay, in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke and on the 400 free relay.

Nick Goll was All-CLC in three events (200 and 500 freestyles and 400 free relay). Justin Kuglin was All-CLC in two events (200 individual medley, 400 free relay).

Other All-CLC Warriors were Peder Smith (400 free relay) and Luke Jacobsen, Joe Wells and David Supinski, all in the 200 medley relay.

The Warriors’ only victory was by the 400 free relay in Saturday’s final event with a time of 3:24.77.

Runners-up included the 200 medley relay, Kuglin in the 200 IM and McKeag in the butterfly.

The top three finishers in each individual event, and the top two teams in each relay, earned all-conference distinction.
