Teams sought for Frozen Fore pond hockey tournament

■ State send-offs for Warrior teams this week

The Brainerd Sports Boosters Club is sponsoring state send-offs for the Brainerd High School Nordic and Alpine skiing teams and the Warriors dance team are scheduled this week.

A send-off for the Nordic and Alpine teams is scheduled at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday Prairie Bay.

Send-off for the dance team is scheduled at 8 a.m. Thursday at Prairie Bay.

The public is invited to join the boosters in celebrating these achievements and wishing these student/athletes good luck with their trips to state.

Fee for the meal is $10 and includes beverage and tip or attend the program only at no cost.

■ Teams sought for Frozen Fore pond hockey tournament

Teams are sought to play in the 4-on-4 pond hockey tournament Feb. 23 on Hole in the Day Bay on Gull Lake as part of Frozen Fore festivities.

Games will start at 10 a.m.

Cost is $100 per team with four to six players per team. The format is 4 on 4 with no goalies. There will be two 15-minute halves with a 2-minute halftime.

Teams need sticks, skates and like-colored jerseys. There is no checking.

■ Mount Ski Gull

fundraiser Saturday

Mount Ski Gull will host a fundraiser to “Light Up the Nights,” with proceeds going toward the purchase and installation of new lights at the hill. 

“Light Up the Nights” will start at noon Saturday, Feb. 16, at Mount Ski Gull in East Gull Lake. For a $20 entry fee, participants can race against others in respective age and gender divisions. Medals and ribbons will be awarded. A lift ticket and helmet are required to participate.
