Area Boys Hockey: Flyers end regular season 19-6

DETROIT LAKES — Ben Newman scored two of the Flyers’ five goals in the third period and Little Falls rallied to close out its regular season with a 7-4 win over the Detroit Lakes Lakers in a non-conference matchup Thursday night.

Mark Anez finished with five points netting two goals and assisting on three others. Matthew Stumpf, Luke Majerle and August Maciej each scored once.

Michael Stumpf picked up the win, making 28 saves in net.

The 19-6 Flyers have won five of their last six games and are ranked 12th in Class 1A. They are seeded No. 1 in the Section 6-1A tournament and host the No. 8 Morris-Benson/No. 9 Breckenridge-Wahpeton winner in the quarterfinals 7 p.m. Tuesday.
