Section 8-2A Gymnastics: Warriors fourth in section
ST. CLOUD — Jackie Caughey’s 9.075 on the floor was the Brainerd Warriors’ highest individual score as they placed fourth in the Section 8-2A championship Saturday.
No Warriors advanced to the state tournament, but Caughey’s floor score placed her seventh ahead of Mikayla Cerney’s eighth-place 8.975.
Cerney was ninth on bars.
“It was a great night for our seniors,” said Brainerd head coach Dave Maras. “Jackie Caughey had her best floor routine of her career. Sidney Wold had her best night ever on vault, floor and beam.
“We had some great performances from our younger kids, too. Rachel Hoffman had a nice night. Mikayla Cerney did well and we had some kids throw new vaults. All-in-all, it was a very good team effort. I am very proud of them.”
