Area Boys Hockey: Flyers advance to semifinals

LITTLE FALLS — Luke Majerle collected a pair of goals and two assists to lead the top-seeded Little Falls Flyers past No. 8 seeded Morris-Benson 5-1 in Tuesday’s Section 6-1A quarterfinal game.

Majerle tallied the opening goal at 2:14 of the first period on a penalty shot and put in the winning goal at 3:21 of the second.

Also netting goals for Little Falls were Nathan Adamietz, Austin Bjorge and Ben Newman who assisted on two other goals.

The Flyers’ Mike Stumpf turned aside 18 shots for the Flyers.

ST. CLOUD — Wesley Janson and Cory McManigle split the time in net for the Wolverines and combined to turn away 45 of the 55 shots they faced as No. 7 seeded Wadena-Deer Creek was eliminated 10-0 by the second-seeded St. Cloud Apollo Eagles in a Section 6-1A quarterfinal game Tuesday.
