BIATHLON: Christiansen, Hadrits win Biathlon race in Duluth

Nisswa’s Cam Christiansen and Ty Hadrits won events in the Minnesota Cup No. 9 biathlon race Sunday at the Snowflake Nordic Center in Duluth.

It was a mass start event with four shooting stages.

In the 10-kilometer boys race, Cam Christiansen, 15, won by shooting 2,1,3,1, in 48:30.

In the 12.5km youth men, men and junior women’s event, Hadrits placed first overall by shooting 2,1,2,1, in 49:04. Hadrits was second coming in for the first and second shooting, but led the race from that point to the end.

Pelle Christiansen, Nisswa, finished sixth overall by shooting 3,1,2,5, in 59:30.

Seventh overall was Jenna Ruzich, Baxter, the only female competitor, shooting 4,4,0,3, in 1:06:27. Ruzich competed in the 10km Book Across the Bay ski race Saturday at Ashland, Wis., where she was the sixth female finisher out of 885 women who participated.
