Area Girls Basketball: Lake Region repeats as state champion

PLYMOUTH — Bethany Cressman netted 13 points and 12 rebounds as Lake Region Christian School defeated Owatonna 30-14 Saturday to repeat as champion in the Minnesota Association of Christians Schools state tournament.

Cressman was named tournament MVP and the Hornets finished their season with a 23-0 record.

Marlee Moore pulled down 22 rebounds, 12 of them offensive, to go with six points while Emily Beltran secured four points, five assists, and two rebounds. Both players were named to the all-tournament team.

Autumn Martin added two points and nine rebounds and Grace Czeczok dished out five assists and pulled in seven boards for a Hornets team that held Owatonna to 3-35 (9 percent) shooting from the floor.

CROOKSTON — Shannon Lundgren posted 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Crosby-Ironton as the Rangers fell to Section 8-2A foe Crookston 73-66 in their regular-season finale Saturday.

Chelsey Bonsante added 18 points for a Rangers team that netted 21 of 27 from the line and shot 46 percent from the field.

Meredith Silgen tallied 17 points and dished out seven assists as C-I finished the regular season with a 12-14 mark, good for the No. 3 seed in the Northeast Subsection 8-2A tournament, which begins Thursday.
