JUNIOR HOCKEY: North Stars snap 19-game losing streak

OAKDALE — Bo Borowski netted a goal, on assists from Turk Scatliff and Kyle Whipple, 2:33 into overtime to propel Breezy Point over the Twin City Steel 4-3 Saturday.

The win was Breezy Point’s first since a 4-3 nipping of Peoria Dec. 9 and snapped a 19-game losing streak.

The Steel built a quick lead with two unanswered goals in the first stanza before Tyler Reichl scored a power-play goal on assists from Turk Scatliff and Bryson Jasper deep into the second period.

Breezy Point dominated the final period with goals from Anthony Martinez (Billy Foy, Joe Santelli) and Jared Naeve before the Steel tied it up and sent the game into overtime.

The North Stars outshot the Steel 48-36 while Walker Ensted kicked away 33 shots for Breezy Point.

Breezy Point, already eliminated from playoff contention, is 4-39 and will end the season with road games against the Granite City Lumberjacks on Sunday, the North Iowa Bulls on Friday, and the Minnesota Flying Aces on March 10.
