NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE: Dallas Stars recall Carl Sneep - for a day

DALLAS — The Dallas Stars announced Sunday they were recalling defenseman Carl Sneep of Brainerd and Jamie Oleksiak from the Texas Stars, Dallas’ development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Late Monday afternoon, the Stars announced that defenseman Trevor Daley was activated from injured reserve and they were assigning Sneep back to the Texas Stars.

Sneep, 25, has split time between the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers and the AHL’s Texas Stars this season. In 13 games with Texas, he has three points (1 goal, 2 assists), six penalty minutes, and a plus-5 rating.

He played his only NHL game Dec. 17, 2011, against the Buffalo Sabres and earned an assist and plus-1 rating. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Brainerd native was Pittsburgh’s second-round selection (32nd overall) in 2002.

He was acquired by Dallas in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in this year’s draft on Jan. 24, 2013.
