BIATHLON: Christiansen wins boys division, Baker second in youth men

Cam Christiansen was champion and Zean Baker a runner-up in the Minnesota Cup Biathlon Race No. 10 Sunday at Elk River.

In the boys class ages 15-16, Cam Christiansen, Nisswa, won and was 11th overall, shooting 2,0,3,2, in a time of 51:07.


In the youth men’s class ages 17-18, overall winner Jakob Ellingson, the state high school champion, was first, shooting 0,2,0,0, in 40:13. He was followed by Zean Baker, Nisswa, in second place, third overall, by shooting 3,1,3,2, in 45:19.

Ty Hadrits, Brainerd, was fifth, shooting 0,2,2,3, in 47:09. Gerrit Garberich, Brainerd, shot 4,0,0,5, in 49:44.

Pelle Christiansen finished 17th overall and was the only senior master man. He shot 2,2,3,5, in 62:46.

The event was a 13-kilometer mass start with four shooting stages for all classes.
