Girls Hockey: Wennerstrand stops 59 shots in defeat

Brainerd/Little Falls goalie Sara Wennerstrand blocked 54 shots as the Flying Warriors were defeated by the Grand Rapids/Greenway Lightning 5-1 in a non-conference game Thursday night at Brainerd Area Civic Center.

Karli Ring scored for the Flying Warriors, who have lost six straight. Assists on the goal, which was scored with 22 seconds left in the first, went to Brooke Mimmack and Gretchen Gramer.

Hannah Schmoll had two goals and an assist for the Lightning, Chantal Holum collected three assists and Sadie Peart added a goal and two assists. Lightning goalie Shannon Hart made eight saves.
