Basketball: Central District Hoop Shoot winners emerge

Six youths from the Minnesota Elks Central District advanced to state competition following the annual Minnesota Elks Hoop Shoot contest at Lake Region Christian School in Baxter.

The included Tyler Jordan of Brainerd who won the 10-11 boys division, tallying 17 of 25 free throws.

Other winners included 9-year-old Gabrielle Hartley of Verndale and 11-year-old Ellie Dague of Henning. Hartley led all girls by making 18 of 25 shots.

The state event will be in Hutchinson at 1 p.m. Feb. 8. Winners in each of the six divisions will vye for an opportunity to participate in regional competition at Iowa City, Iowa.
