Nordic Skiing: Baker tops Gaberich for 16K skate win


In a battle of former Brainerd Warriors Nordic skiers, Zean Baker topped old teammate Gerrit Gaberich for the men’s 16-Kilometer skate race during Sunday’s 40th Lumberjack Jaunt at Northland

Arboretum in Brainerd.

Baker clocked a 42:17 with Gaberich in 42:33.

Bemidji’s Katie Houg skied a 55:39 to win the women’s 16K skate. Jackie Devine of Little Falls was second and Brainerd High School’s Nordic ski coach Mary Claire Ryan placed third.
