Boys Basketball: Willmar beats Warriors for second time in three days

WILLMAR — Grant Reuer’s 10 points led Brainerd as the Warriors lost to the Willmar Cardinals for the second time in three days, this time 77-55 in Thursday’s Central Lakes Conference game.

Brainerd trailed 49-17 at halftime.

“We never got off the bus and fell behind early,” Warriors coach Scott Stanfield said. “We shot poorly the first half and couldn’t recover.

“I did a poor job getting our kids prepared to play mentally and it showed early. We played a much better second half and responded well, which is a credit to our kids.”

The Warriors have lost three straight and five of their last six. One of those losses was 74-69 Tuesday to Willmar.

Willmar is second in the CLC and Brainerd third.
