Area Girls Basketball: Lakers snap Pequot Lakes' win streak

DETROIT LAKES — Katie White scored 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds for Pequot Lakes as the Patriots lost to the Detroit Lakes Lakers 66-61 in a Mid-State Conference game Monday night.

Kayla Miller added 15 points and Vanessa Lane 10 for the Patriots. Haley Wiebolt contributed eight points and seven assists for Pequot, which lost for the first time in six games and surrendered the Mid-State Conference to the Lakers, who hit a few key threes down the stretch.

“We were in it to the bitter end,” Patriots coach Jon Dale said. “It was a great game for us. We had a great streak. We beat Staples-Motley twice, we beat Crosby-Ironton and Grand Rapids, and we were right with (Detroit Lakes) on their home court. We’re going to be fine.”
