Boys Basketball: Ahonen, Warriors silence the Storm

Kobe Ahonen’s 15 points led the Brainerd Warriors in their 68-44 Central Lakes Conference win over the Sauk Rapids Storm

Tuesday at Brainerd High School.

Logan Madsen added 11, Grant Reuer and Isaiah Smith each finished with nine points.

“We played well all around and played good defense the second half,” said Brainerd head coach Scott Stanfield. “Kobe Ahonon had a really strong interior game and Logan Madsen was strong on the perimeter. It was a good all around win and the 10th in conference play this year, which is our second highest win total since 96-97.”

The Warriors are 10-4 in the conference, 13-11 overall. Going into the game, they had lost five of their last six games.

“We have one conference game left and one non-conference game,” said Stanfield. “We were predicted to be seventh in our conference at the season start so to be where we are is a credit to our kids, especially our seniors. I’m proud of our kids.”

Sauk Rapids is 0-25 and lost to the Warriors by 18 Jan. 10.
