College Cross Country: Area athletes compete in MIAC Championship

Five former Brainerd Warriors competed in Saturday's MIAC cross country championship at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

Lydia Herath, a junior at Bethel, placed 65th overall with a 24.29.4 to help her team finish fifth.

Maria West and Sara Whiteman are members of Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers. West, a junior, placed 69th with a time of 24:33.1. Whiteman, also a junior, landed in 104th place with a time of 25:14.9. The Cobbers were ninth.

Freshman Ali Crochet of St. Thomas ran a 25;11.3 to place 102nd. The Tommies finished third.

Carleton won the event with 21 points.

Pequot Lakes High School graduate Jackie Brine-Doyle placed 114th for St. Catherine.

On the men's side, Brainerd graduate Nick Solheim finished 92nd with a 28:14.4 for the ninth-place Cobbers.

One spot back was Pierz graduate Kyle Becker, a junior at St. John's, who ran a 28:15.4 for the third-place Johnnies.
