College Volleyball: Raiders honored by MCAC

Four Central Lakes College Raiders and head coach Jane Peterson were honored by the Minnesota College Athletic Association at the conclusion of the Region 13B Tournament last weekend.

The Raiders' Paige Wallevand and Kahlen Manthey were to the MCAC All-Northern Division first team. Wallevand was the leading vote-getter in the MCAC North, edging out Shantel Verbout of NCTC. Wallevand was a seven-time player of the week selection in the division as an all-around or defensive player.

Teammates Becca Jensen and Kayla Larson were named to the All-division second team.

Peterson was named coach of the year.

CLC led the Northern Division from start to finish in 2017. The Raiders' dominance has produced a familiar path back to the NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. The Raiders will enjoy one of the shortest commutes of any of the eight teams in the national championships at Rochester Friday and Saturday. Third-seeded CLC opens quarterfinal play at 1 p.m. Friday against No. 6 Northampton (Penn.)

Tuesday, Nov. 7, NJCAA National Tournament information and ticket information, as well as the MCAC All-State Team, will be available at
