GRAND RAPIDS — Two  losses to Hibbing in a Northern Division doubleheader that was moved to Grand Rapids due to snow Saturday pinned the third and fourth straight losses on the Central Lakes College Raiders.

CLC lost the first game 12-10 despite Trisha Wippler’s 3-for-5 effort at the plate, which included three runs, five RBIs and two home runs.

Dani Thiesse had four hits with three runs, an RBI and three stolen bases. Lindsey Fryer also had four hits with two runs, three RBIs and two steals. Heather Zetah was 2-5 with a run and RBI. Hallsey Olson was 4-5 with a run and two steals.

Losing pitcher Sam Harting went all eight innings, with nine earned runs, three strikeouts and three walks.

In Game Two, Fryer finished 4-5 with two runs, three RBIs a home run and stolen base in a 14-13 loss. Thiesse, Steph Neugebauer, Wippler and Olson each had three hits and Alicia Johnson and Katie Boody each added two. Neugebauer, Johnson and Boody homered.

Harting took the loss, allowing 12 earned runs and six walks with two strikeouts.

“We batted very well in both games,” CLC coach Greg Medeck said. “However, pitching and defense seem to be challenging right now. We are still right in the mix but we will have to play better ball down the stretch to have a legitimate shot in the state tournament.

“We hope to get back on track Wednesday as we travel to division-leading Itasca.”
