COLLEGE HOCKEY Archibald named WCHA Rookie of the Week

MADISON, Wis. – University of Nebraska Omaha right winger Josh Archibald has been named the Red Baron WCHA Rookie of the Week for Nov. 15.

Archibald produced back-to-back multiple-point games to help the Mavericks earn three of four points in a conference road series at Bemidji State last weekend.

A 5-10, 170-pound freshman from Brainerd, Archibald contributed two goals and two assists for four points to tie for the team lead in scoring in the series, earned a +5 plus/minus rating, and fired five shots on goal.

Last Friday (Nov. 11), he scored UNO's first goal and added an assist on the team's third goal in a 3-3 overtime tie against the Beavers. The following night he notched an empty-net goal and assisted on another as the Mavericks gained a 5-1 win.

A draftee of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Archibald has scored points in four straight games and is tied for fourth in scoring overall among WCHA freshman with nine points (5 goals, 4 assists) in 12 games.

Archibald and the No. 19 Mavericks head west this weekend to face 11th-ranked Denver on Friday and Saturday.
