Women's College Basketball: Monson leads CLC to division win over Norse

Lindsay Monson led all scorers with 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Central Lakes College Raiders moved to 4-1 in the Northern Division with a 71-54 win over the Mesabi Norse on Wednesday night.

Points off turnovers were a key in the game as the Raiders led Mesabi by a margin of 25-13 in that category.

The also went 15-16 from the free throw line.

CLC won for the fourth straight time since dropping their division opener.

Leading by just two points at halftime, the Raiders outscored the Norse 45-30 in the second half.

With the loss, Mesabi saw their record fall to 2-3 in division play.

Monson entered the game fourth in North scoring (15.8), second in field goal shooting (.548) and eighth in rebounding (8.6).

She led the Raiders in rebounding and was 6-13 from the field and a perfect 6-6 from the line.

Mesabi’s Jessica Love, who leads the North in three-point shooting, was held by the Raiders to 0-2 from three point range and 1-12 from the field.

Sierra Benning also collected 15 points and tallied nine assists, while Taalyr Egeness finished in double figures with 12 points for the Raiders.
