NFL: Former CLC Raider signs to play in NFL

Former Central Lakes College Raiders football player Frank Mays signed a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday after the conclusion of the NFL draft.

Mays played at CLC during the 2010-11 seasons. He was an All-American and captain in 2011. He led the Raiders to back-to-back bowl game appearances. He graduated with an AA degree in spring of 2012 and accepted a scholarship offer to Florida A & M University where he started at defensive end the last two years.

“I spoke with Frank (Saturday) night and he is very excited for the chance to make an NFL team,” said CLC head football coach Greg Medeck. “He is the only modern era CLC player that I am aware of to create this opportunity. I am very happy for Frank and I will be following his journey closely. This is a great accomplishment for a local, small town Minnesota kid that began his career here at CLC.”

Last season, Mays finished with four sacks, 10 tackles for loss and 47 tackles. In 21 career games, he had 68 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss and six sacks.

Mays is a 6-foot-10, 295 pound defensive end from Bemidji.
