Hockey: Northwoods Pond Hockey Classic this weekend
The puck drops this weekend at the first Northwoods Pond Hockey Classic on Hole in the Day Bay on Gull Lake in Nisswa.
This 4-on-4, round-robin hockey tournament features several divisions for men, women, co-ed and youths across all skill levels. Winners of the adult division will receive $100 cash as well as free registration for next year's event.
Registration is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday with live music by Solo beginning at 6 p.m.
Saturday includes a full day of hockey, a variety of other contests and events and a meet-and-greet with furry 4-legged friends of The Babinski Foundation.
The Steele River Band, one of the top country music acts in the Midwest, takes the stage under the tent at 8 p.m. Saturday playing classic and contemporary country music.
Hockey continues Sunday with each division's championship games followed by the closing ceremony.
This event will feature live music, food and beverages and family-friendly fun. It caters to players, hockey enthusiasts and fans looking to enjoy the game on outdoor ice.
