Triathlon: Schmidgall, Carlson post fastest times
BAXTER—Kyler Schmidgall of Little Falls and Jaycee Carlson of Brainerd posted the fastest boys and girls times for the for Saturday's Kiwanis Kids Triathlon at Whipple Beach.
Schmidgall posted a 17:36 total time to win the boys 9-year-old division. Carlson's time of 18:56 was the top time overall and won the girls 9-year-old division, which consisted of a 25-yard swim, 2-mile bike ride and a 1-mile run.
Athletes 10 years and older covered a 50-yard swim, 4-mile bike and a 2-mile run.
Baden Bastian's 27:02 was the top time overall and he won the boys 14-year-old category. Macy Bell of Maple Grove was the fastest girl at that distance with a time of 32:44.
