Walleyedan: The bite is on - for now

So many lakes, so many fish!

Not sure what the scoop is, but I am guessing that there are multiple lakes that are producing fish right now in our area.

Our guides have been hitting Gull Lake pretty consistently and it's been really nice because there hasn't been a lot of other fishing pressure. I know that by writing this, there may be a few more that try their hand on Gull and that's fine because there are a lot of "spots."

I guess what I am trying to say is that it's been really nice that we have so many "other" lakes in the area that are producing as well. The Whitefish Chain and North Long have been good most of the season, too, but it's going to be interesting to see if the "bite" continues with the big bait boom that seems to be showing up.

I was on Pelican today and it was not good (for us). I had three ladies out and, thankfully, they had a lot to talk about and they were pretty darn content just being out on the water on such a nice day. Amy and the two Jessies had girls weekend up on Pelican and, since it is a lake they come to each summer, they wanted to learn a little about the lake and it's where they wanted to fish. We found some fish, but they weren't quite "snapping" at our redtail chubs. We caught a couple of pike and a bass but it was one of those trips that I was happy I had some gals that kept the trip "lively" despite a pretty SLOW day of catching! As fishing guides we see it all and hear it all but don't catch 'em all (despite what some people think).

Hope your weekend brings many fish into the boat. I'm going to spend some time in the Alexandria area this weekend, on the water and also at the Kids Fishing Day at Mills Fleet Farm! Talk at you later, Walleyedan

p.s. I had a 10-year-old boy (Andrew) out the other day and he broke off on "Jingles" - twice! And what was pretty cool was the fact that we ran into a couple at the boat launch on the way out who knew about "Jingles". Have you heard the story of Jingles? I think I may tell you next week!
