Nisswa falls to Isanti

BROWNTON — Luke Schumer hit a home run and scored twice and Jason Roepke was 4-5 with a double and two RBIs, but it wasn’t enough to match the Isanti Redbirds, who defeated the Nisswa Lightning 8-4 Friday winners’ bracket semifinals in the Class C state tournament Friday night.

Three Nisswa errors proved costly as Brett Kramer was tagged with the loss, but didn’t allow an earned run. He went 3.2 innings and allowed six runs, 10 hits and no walks. He struck out one.

Lincoln Messner threw the final 5.1 innings for the Lightning. He allowed two earned runs on five hits. He struck out one and walked two.

Drew Boland hit a double and walked and Brandon Hiltz and Brett Jenkins both had two hits and scored a run for Nisswa, which falls in to the losers’ bracket and play the Mankato Mets 4 p.m. Saturday in Brownton in an elimination game. Mankato eliminate New Prauge 2-0 Friday.

Isanti’s Kyle Johnson was 4-4 with a double. Bud Heifort went 3-4 with a double and four RBIs and Eric Rysdam was 2-4 with a double and three runs scored.
