College Softball: Lindaman, Houlihan homer in sweep of Nebraska

MINNEAPOLIS—For the second straight week, sophomore right-hander Amber Fiser has earned Big Ten weekly honors, as announced by the conference office Monday.

Posting a perfect 3-0 weekend against Nebraska, Fiser earns Co-Pitcher of the Week honors with Indiana's Tara Trainer.

The Van Horne, Iowa, native threw 16.1 innings allowing two runs, only one of which was earned, and stuck out 15 Cornhuskers last weekend. Tossing a total of 175.2 innings this season, she has now thrown 64.4 percent of the Gophers' innings played while starting a Big Ten best 29 games.

With a 6-0 win Saturday, Fiser tossed her sixth shutout of the season, before allowing her first earned run in 26.1 innings.

Minnesota hosts Wisconsin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in a doubleheader. Game One will air live on the Big Ten Network. Game Two will air on BTN Plus live and on BTN via tape-delay at 8 p.m.

Baseball: Coffey hits milestone, but Gophers fall in finale

MINNEAPOLIS—The 25th-ranked Gopher baseball team settled for two wins in three games in its Big Ten weekend series against Iowa as the Hawkeyes took Game Three, 5-3, in Minnesota's return to Siebert Field Sunday, April 22.

Pitching dominated throughout three tightly-contested weekend match-ups, but No. 25 Minnesota (25-11, 9-2 Big Ten). Senior infielder Micah Coffey did reach a career milestone with his 200th hit Sunday, a single in the fifth inning.

Iowa (23-13, 7-6 Big Ten) got 7.0 innings from right-hander Cole McDonald, who scattered four Gopher hits while striking out seven on the day.

Minnesota hosts South Dakota State at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 25.
