Area Softball: Pillager, W-DC split
WADENA—Wadena-Deer Creek's Mackenzie Carsten struck out seven and allowed two runs, one earned, on two walks and three hits and also went 2-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored in a 9-2 Game One victory over Pillager in a Park Region Conference doubleheader Monday.
Pillager rebounded with a 2-1 victory in Game Two.
W-DC's Casey Volkmann went 2-4 with a, double, triple, a run and an RBI in Game One and Courtney Warren went 2-3 with a run.
Pillager's Ella Kilchesky went 1-3 with an RBI and Sam Bennett was 1-3 with a double and a run scored in Game One.
Kilchesky pitched the Game Two win. She struck out five and walked none. She allowed one run on six hits. Kylie Woidyla and Savannah Sprau each drove in a run for Pillager in the night cap.

PIERZ—Brittney Boser recorded a home run and pitched five innings for the Pierz Pioneers, only allowing one hit and recording nine strikeouts as they defeated the Royalton Royals 8-1 Monday.
Ella Kalusche went 1-3 with two RBIs, a double and a run scored for the Pioneers.
Pierz has now won five straight.

Lindsey Tulenchik went 2-3 with a home run, while Emma Mills recorded a double and a run scored.

Little Falls splits with Foley
LITTLE FALLS—Two walks and singles by Abby Poser, Sevea Zimmerman and Rachel Loukinen plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh and gave the Little Falls Flyers a 9-8 win over the Foley Falcons Monday in the first game of a Granite Ridge Conference doubleheader.
The win ended a three-game losing streak for Little Falls, but it was the Falcons turn to rally in the second game scoring twice in the seventh to defeat the Flyers 4-3.
Megan Kirk, Allie Steinmetz and Zimmerman doubled for the Flyers in the first contest, while Kali Mammenga, Jasmine Miller and Poser all turned in multiple hit performances.
Kali Mammenga pitched a complete game for Little Falls. She struck out three, walked three and allowed 11 hits.
In the second game, Sadie Sue Houdek went 3-5 and Poser finished 2-3 for the Flyers. Allie Steinmetz contributed a double in the loss.

Pequot falls twice
PEQUOT LAKES—Senior Clare Ganley went a combined 4-5 for the Pequot Lakes Patriots who fell 7-2 and 4-0 Monday to the Mid-State Conference leading Park Rapids Panthers.
Ganley finished 2-3 in the opener and 2-2 in the second. She was batting .513 going into Monday's games.
Karlie Trottier contributed a double and drove in a run for Pequot in Game One.
Park Rapids is ranked fourth in Class 2A and is 17-1 overall and 9-1 in the conference.
