Class 1A Volleyball: Top-seeded Crusaders sweep W-DC

ST. PAUL—Ellie Miron posted 12 kills and four blocks, but No. 4 seeded Wadena-Deer Creek didn't have an answer for top-seeded Mayer Lutheran's attack.

The Crusaders saw Madi Beck register 13 kills and Madison Huckey and Sophia Heuer each tallied 12 in a 3-0 victory over the Wolverines in Friday's Class 1A state semifinals.

Kennedy Gravelle added nine kills and five blocks.

Casey Volkmann posted eight kills, 11 digs and a block and Ashley Adams dished out 28 set assists.

Courtney Warren led the Wolverines with 14 digs.

W-DC will play Bethlehem Academy for the third-place title 11 a.m. Saturday.
