Volleyball: Warriors spike way to 2nd-place

DULUTH—Courtney Russell smashed 29 kills and Avery Eckman added 28 for the Brainerd Warriors who went 3-1 and placed second in the 12-team Duluth East Tournament Saturday, Sept. 22.

The Warriors beat Calument 2-0, Nevis 2-1 and Grand Rapids 2-0 before losing to Forest Lake 2-0 in the championship match.

Jenna Meyer posted a team-high 51 digs for Brainerd and Delaney Schaeffer topped the stats with 13 blocks, while Kealy Johnson and Ashlyn Sellnow tipped 40 and 35 set assists respectively.
