Much of central and northern Minnesota was in a winter storm warning Saturday, including Crow Wing, Cass, Morrison, Todd, Mille Lacs and Aitkin counties. The storm warning was expected to remain in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday. Heavy snowfall Saturday afternoon and night was expected to make traveling hazardous with snow-covered roads and visibility of less than a half mile. If motorists became stranded, the National Weather Service reported it may take some time for help to arrive.
The NWS predicted 4 to 8 inches of snow Saturday during the day another 2 to 4 inches possible Saturday night, mainly before midnight. Sunday was expected to bring sun and cold with a high near 6 degrees and wind gusts as high as 20 mph. The temperature will plunge Sunday night with an expected low of 16 below zero. Don't expect a warm up next week.
