Four arrested in drug searches
Staff Writer Separate search warrants executed in Crow Wing County Wednesday resulted in the arrest of four people and the seizure of methamphetamine and marijuana.
The first search warrant was executed by the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division, the Crow Wing County Tactical Unit and Crow Wing County sheriff's deputies at 1:45 p.m. at a residence on the 6000 block of Estate Circle Drive south of Brainerd.
Sheriff Todd Dahl said officers found about five ounces of meth and four pounds of marijuana at the residence, with combined street value of about $30,000.
Two people living at the residence, a 19-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, were arrested for felony first-degree possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. They are being held in the Crow Wing County jail pending formal charges from the county attorney's office. Additional arrests are possible, Dahl said.
At 8:51 p.m. Crow Wing County sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call about a domestic dispute at a residence on Pine Beach Road in Unorganized Township, north of Brainerd.
After deputies observed marijuana at the residence, officers with the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division responded and executed a search warrant at 9:44 p.m. About 70 marijuana plants were seized with an estimated street value of $5,000. Weapons also were seized from the residence, the sheriff's department reported.
Two people, a 47-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, were arrested at the Pine Beach Road residence. Both are being held in the Crow Wing County jail pending formal charges.
Dahl said the cases weren't connected but that authorities have had prior contacts with the suspects.
"We're taking a major proactive stance in responding to narcotics investigations," Dahl said. "We're spreading the word of zero tolerance toward illegal drug activity."
