Ruth Nelson was named chair of the Brainerd School Board at Monday's reorganizational board meeting.
Nelson, who is serving in her first four-year term on the board, took over Monday's meeting from outgoing chair Reed Campbell. She thanked Campbell for his service during the past year and also thanked board members for their hard work during this difficult year.
Campbell also thanked the board and Superintendent Steve Razidlo for his leadership.
Bob Nystrom was elected vice-chair while Kent Montgomery will serve as clerk/treasurer.
In other board action, board members:
Designated Bremer Bank as the primary depository with other depositories as follows: Wells Fargo Bank, U.S. Bank, Brainerd Savings and Loan, Northern National Bank, Lakewood Bank, Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union, the Minnesota School District Liquid Asset Fund, financial institutions designated through MN Trust, U.S. Bank National Association and Multi Bank Securities Inc. Campbell abstained from the vote.

Designated the Brainerd Dispatch as the official newspaper. Board member Lew Hudson abstained from the vote.
Authorized Razidlo to invest surplus funds.
Set the board member salaries at $350 per month, or $4,200 annually, a rate that has remained unchanged since the 1986-87 school year.
Changed the name of the Building Committee to the Facilities Committee.
